Little India
26 Jan 2024
Applied skills gained from SP module "Visual Design & Photography" MD0010 to create a visually appealing brochure that Singapore Tourism Board (STB) would be willing to use.

Deliverables (what was created?)
-
a high-quality, well-designed brochure of a walking tour around Little India

Outcomes (who benefited & how?)
Imaginary client in the form of STB. This assignment was an indirect way of introducing students to typography, visualization, and composition concepts.

-
myself; got to learn more about Little India (sight, sounds, and food) during the onsite research & recce
-
myself; learned new software (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop)
-
myself; A Grade

Reflections (what worked well & and what can be improved?)
What worked well?
-
learned that clear hierarchy, consistent use of white spacing and good alignment can make a huge difference
-
found the right tool (Google Slides) for quick prototyping before recreating it using Adobe Illustrator
-
created a new workflow where I used Google Slides to do rapid prototyping
-
enjoyed doing assignments that are out of the classroom environment

What can be improved?
-
SP could help link up some external agencies as guest judges to evaluate the shortlisted best entries.
-
Students whose works were shortlisted can do a short pitch to "sell" why their submissions is the best. Top 3 Winners entries get used by these agencies.
-
Involve STB, Indian associations, or MPs like Wan Rizal to co-judge our submissions
