Part 3: Bangkok
Day 6 - Big City Vibes
We left Pattaya and headed to Bangkok, where we checked into the Holiday Inn. Separate rooms for the boys and girls meant some much-needed space. The girls went shopping, while Dad and I played Kingdom Rush on our device (Dad’s surprisingly good at tower defense games).
Dinner was at JODD Fairs Rama 9 night market, at the Kung Thep Restaurant was insane—lava ribs, seafood buckets, and grilled fish that didn’t disappoint this time. My sister and I were contemplating scorpions as a post-dinner snack but both of us chickened out in the end.
Day 7 - Last-Minute Shopping
Started the day with the hotel’s complimentary breakfast at Ginger and then wandered around Bobae Tower looking for clothes at a bargain price. It was a total letdown. So, we took a tut tut to another place that specializes in toys. Usually, we use Grab, but how could we leave Bangkok without trying the infamous tut tut?
Things picked up a little later at Mega Plaza, where I scored a Slam Dunk Lego set!
Lunch in Chinatown (15-min walk from Mega Plaza) at Nai Ek Roll Noodles was worth the wait. A bowl for 60 baht? Unreal.
From here, the boys and girls split up. Dad and I hit Yunomori Onsen Sathorn, while Mom and sis went for a hair spa that cost more than all our massages combined. The Yunomori branch in Pattaya was newer and much less crowded. Nonetheless, both were very relaxing.
When we met up later at Central World, Mom wanted to visit a nearby night market called Pratunam Market. It was vastly superior to Bobae Tower! So much more variety and cheaper at the same time! It took a 15-mins walk to get there from Central World, but I highly recommend it! We ended the night with a final stop at Big C supermarket. It was funny seeing so many Singaporeans here. Our accent is so unique, you can spot us a mile away!
Day 8 - Heading Home
Everyone overslept today. Fortunately, we had packed our luggage last night. So, we were able to quickly get dressed and swiftly check out. Before we had breakfast, my parents approached the concierge, Mr. Chum, to arrange a taxi for us. By the time we were done and back at the concierge, the taxi had arrived and Mr. Chum was just finished with loading our luggage into the taxi. Now, that’s excellent service! We had a smooth ride to the airport, and checked in our luggage with more than an hour to spare.
To recap, I have shared 22 attractions over 3 blog posts about my recent trip to Thailand. To neatly compress my trip into a single infographic, I created this using Canva. Maybe you'll find it useful?
This trip was a mix of old memories and new adventures. Traveling with family can be chaotic, but it’s those little moments—laughing at funny situations, experiencing good and bad meals, exploring new places, or just hanging out—that make it all worth it. Until next time, Thailand!
