Found a real client to apply skills gained from SP module MD003 in a real-world context, including actual deadlines, and deliverables.

Deliverables (what was created?)
-
a "blueprint" design document that consolidated my client's requirements
-
a fully functioning prototype that replaces client's existing website
-
enhanced features to further market my client's services and help recruit more students

Outcomes (who benefited & how?)
My client(s) was Mr & Mrs NG. This couple felt that their existing website did not meet their needs and was looking for someone to help them do a major revamp.

-
client; learnt about web design, as I highlighted several areas where the existing website could be improved
-
client; learnt about Gen AI, when I demo how some of the images used were created via text prompts
-
client; learnt about Project Management, as I discussed with them on milestones, deliverables and deadlines
-
myself; benefited from managing requirements from different parties, i.e. juggling school project requirements (affect GPA) and real-world client's requirements (affect my client's satisfaction rating)
-
myself; learnt new software (Figma, Powtoons)
-
myself; applied design thinking process; made iterative improvements to the product (website)

Reflections (what worked well & and what can be improved?)
What worked well?
-
applied the use of collaborative tools (Google Slides) in a real-world setting
-
found the right tool (wix) for quick prototyping before actually recreating it using Figma
-
simulated working with a real client, including negotiating payment terms, and conducting a handing-over process
-
first experience in trying to network and create opportunities
What can be improved?
-
SP could help identify potential real-world small businesses who need to build/revamp their websites. Then SP MAD coordinator can help match students to these real people to simulate working with a real client. Negotiating for payment terms, etc. can be handled by SP school administration so that the students learning the module can focus on the design-specific areas.
