Embarking on a recent family trip to Genting Highlands proved to be an exciting and rejuvenating experience for me. From misty landscapes and thrilling theme park rides to delectable meals and cozy hotel rooms, this trip was a much-needed break after my O-level exams.
Day 1
After a long and tiring 7-hour bus ride, we finally reached Genting Highlands. Surprisingly, the journey didn't feel as arduous because I spent the time learning to solve the Rubik's Cube. Upon our arrival, the chilly mist that enveloped the area made me shiver slightly. Eager to explore, we headed to a Korean restaurant in the Genting shopping mall for dinner, where we had our best meal during our entire stay. Fully satisfied, we decided to take a cable car down to the Outlet Malls. As we descended, the breathtaking mountainous landscape unfolded before our eyes. While the adults were drawn by the discounted items on the shelves, I was distracted by the mesmerizing sunset above the mountains next to the Outlet Malls. When we arrived at our hotel, I had a pleasant surprise. It had an elevated platform featuring two queen-sized beds and a bed above one of them accessible via stairs. The room was filled with doodles and drawings to make it more homely. the unique room layout made the stay more pleasant.
Day 2
Despite hearing cautionary tales from my uncle about ride maintenance at the theme park, Genting Skyworld, we decided to give it a go. To our pleasant surprise, 80% of the rides were operational that day. Our aunt proved to be a real hero by helping us cut the queues through the virtual queue system on the Genting app, saving us precious time. Among the many rides I experienced, the "Acorn Adventure" rollercoaster stood out as the most thrilling, with unexpected twists and turns that left me screaming with excitement. It also took me on a nostalgic journey back to my childhood. I used to watch Ice Age movies as a kid. Playing this ride felt like stepping into the world of these characters once again. Another unforgettable ride was the Drop Tower. The built-up anticipation as it rose up the tower ended with an exhilarating drop that made me shriek in delight. However, the ultimate mind-blowing experience was "Independence Day." Unlike other motion-simulator rides, this one truly immersed us in a space mission, with seatbelts, stacked rows, and the sensation of flying a jet. The attention to detail, including water spraying effects, made it miles apart from similar rides I had tried before. Overall, Genting Skyworld exceeded my expectations, offering a cooler atmosphere and a wider range of rides compared to other amusement parks I've visited.
Day 3
On our final day, we decided to indulge in a unique breakfast experience at KFC. The menu surprised us with Nasi Lemak—a Malaysian staple dish—served with a large KFC drumstick. The combination of the authentic chili paste and KFC's twist on this popular dish made for a delectable start to the day. While Nasi Lemak might not be what one typically associates with KFC, I couldn't help but think that Singaporeans would appreciate this tasty interpretation as well. After enjoying our meal, we checked out early to catch our 1 pm bus back home, embarking on a 10-hour journey that allowed us to catch up on much-needed sleep. Though the trip was short, it provided the perfect opportunity for me to relax, recharge, and bond with my loved ones before returning to my studies.
My recent trip to Genting Highlands was nothing short of a fun-filled adventure that left me with unforgettable memories. From the misty arrival and cozy hotel rooms to the exhilarating rides at Genting Skyworld, every moment was filled with excitement and joy. The theme park surpassed my expectations with its thrilling attractions and comfortable atmosphere, making it a preferred choice over other amusement parks in the region. Genting Highlands truly proved to be a fantastic destination, offering a perfect blend of entertainment, natural beauty, and quality time with loved ones. Look forward to revisiting again.
